Outstanding levels of stiffness, great ergonomics and an unbeatably light alloy frame all combine to make the Grand Canyon AL 8.9 a perfect marathon and trail machine. The patented Maximus Seattube and the Shimano Press-Fit- Standard deliver the greatest level of support between the bottom bracket shell and chain stays whilst at the same time being very light. The result of this is that you have first-rate stiffness for those decisive attacks on the climbs. Full steam ahead on the downhill without any loss of performance is guaranteed by the powerful Avid Elixir 5 brakes with 180mm and 160mm discs, which impress with excellent modulation.
Scintillating acceleration is delivered by the Mavic Crossride wheels and ingenious tyre combination of grippy Rocket Ron on the front and smooth rolling Racing Ralph at the back. The lightweight RockShox SID with Motion Control suspension system smoothes out every bump reliably and can be blocked completely via remote from the handlebar when tackling demanding climbs. The premium alloy frame with innovative features and outstanding levels of stiffness all unite to make the Grand Canyon AL 8.9 an impressive long-distance tourer and trail hard tail.

VCLS Stays
Vertical Comfort Lateral Stiffness - this is the goal in the development of our hardtail frames. The special design of the seat tube, seat stays and top tube, in combination with a size-dependent seatpost diameter allows a significant comfort increase while maintaining high lateral stiffness.
Maximus Seattube
The stiffness of the bottom bracket depends largely on the bottom bracket housing and chain stays, but the seat tube also plays a major part. The patented Maximus seat tube uses the maximum possible contact area on the bottom bracket housing, providing 100% conversion of the applied force into acceleration.
Internally routed cables
Ultra-light, protected from the weather, 100% silent thanks to the crossed routing and with a clean look- these are the advantages of internally routed cables. Should a cable change become necessary, it can easily be done through the inspection opening at the bottom bracket.
Tapered Steerer
Steering precision is a key parameter for the ride characteristics of a mountain bike. Thanks to the tapered steerer headset stiffness is significantly increased.
