The Nerve AL 9.9 impressively demonstrates what a modern alloy frame is capable of. It is durable, manufactured using the most modern hydroforming techniques and the design is both unmistakable and unique. A premium frame demands premium components. The Shimano Plus rear derailleur was made even stiffer and lighter through its X-shape design. The result is that precision, crisp shifting is guaranteed even on the most demanding of descents. The 2x10 Shimano XT chain rings deliver a range of transmission ratios that are perfectly suited to 29ers, whilst at the same time being low in weight and having a better Q-factor than conventional triple crank sets.
Thanks to the short chain stays the bike whizzes elegantly around tight bends. The Avid Elixir 7 brakes with 180mm discs front and rear offer powerful braking in every situation. The Nerve AL 9.9 also cuts a fine figure when riding uphill. The shorter head tube allows the rider to exert sufficient pressure down on the front wheel, thereby allowing him to master the steepest of climbs with ease The 2650g lightweight frame and the nimble Mavic Crossmax ST 29 wheels add additional forward thrust.
HYDRO 14
minimizes gussets
TAPERED STEERER
for maximum stiffness
X12 THRU-AXLE
for maximum rear
wheel stiffness
one-piece top tube
saves weight by making weld seams redundant
Anti-Squat-Kinematics
Thanks to the position of the bearing points on the four-link, the so-called anti-squat kinematics, compensates pedal induced bob. Any lockout and high compression damping can be avoided. The rear triangle works sensitively, without any power loss and provides more comfort and traction.
X12 thru-axle
Stiffness is the greatest asset. This doesn't just apply to the frame, but also to the axles. By using an X12 thru-axle the stiffness is increased and bike handling is significantly improved.
Tapered Steerer
More rigidity: The stiffness of a 150-mm fork can be increased 100% by enlarging the bearing diameter to 1 1/2 inch. The tapered head tube ensures the light weight of the entire system.
Hydro 14
The hydroformed tubes are produced in 14 reforming stages, and they make a frame design possible with optimum stiffness-to-weight ratios. The number of required welds is reduced because of the now superfluous gussets.
