PROFILE

The basic prerequisite for a modern enduro is a well balanced geometry and harmonious suspension, which in turn guarantees the bike's all-round capabilities as well as the ultimate in ride fun. The trail optimized geometry with its lower center of gravity and short chain stays delivers agile handling on even the roughest trails. The E13 chain guide with its integrated Bashguard reliably protects the chain ring from unwanted contact with the ground. The Fox suspension is optimized to meet the needs of enduro riders and guarantees that you are always in control even in blocked terrain. The new Fox Talas with 34mm stanchions is light, stiff and scores high in the Factory range with sensitive suspension performance.

The new CTD system delivers an optimum set-up at the mere turn of a lever. The powerful Avid Elixir 7 Trail brake gives you maximum control on never ending descents. The ergonomic brake grips fit snugly into the palms of your hands and deliver superb modulation. This bike delivers downhill performance which will put a smile on your face and have the adrenalin boiling in your veins.

If you select the frame colour "blue ice" the base colour is raw, untreated alloy which is given a coating of clear lacquer to protect the frame.

HIGHLIGHTS

HYDRO 14
14 reforming steps for ideal
stiffness-to-weight values

ANTI-SQUAT-KINEMATICS
for minimum performance loss

270° BOX
provides stiffness and
a low center of gravity

NEEDLE BEARING OF THE DAMPER
for sensitive response

270° Box
The forces which are created during riding are perfectly transferred towards the damper through a 270° deflection. A conical bearing mount and a sealed needle bearing in the damper eye ensure a more responsive 270° Box and a high axial rigidity. Due to the construction of the integrated 270° Box the centre of gravity is very low-lying, allowing an agile riding performance.

Anti-Squat-Kinematics
The single pivot rear triangle in combination with the large down tube guarantees a stiff drivetrain. The optimized pivot point offers the highest level of anti-squat performance and the lowest braking forces even when equipped with different crank sets.

Hydro 14
An ensemble of 14 reforming steps is necessary to produce the special hydroformed tubes. This extremely complex manufacturing process enables highest stiffness-to-weight values. In conjunction with the low-lying 270° Box the frame design sets aesthetic standards and on top of that offers space for mounting a bottle cage.

Needle bearing of the damper
In order to provide the chassis with maximum sensitivity, the damper is equipped with a full complement needle roller ball bearing, sealed against dirt. This runs on a double clamped full floating thru-axle in the 270° Box, which again increases the stiffness.

TEST REPORTS

Excellent critique

Bikesport 5-6/13: Downhill oriented all-mountain bikes was what the magazine Bikesport called this category and where it tested seven powerful models with up to 160mm of travel. The Canyon Strive AL 9.0 SL also took part in the test and received glowing reviews. more  »
