Grand Canyon AL 6.0 – a top bike
The series winner. No other mountain bike in the Canyon model range was able to rake in so many victories in the MOUNTAINBIKE magazine readers’ poll as the Grand Canyon AL. The bike was voted Bike of the Year a staggering 7 times. How has this been achieved? It's on the whole down to the ingenious alloy frame, which is a benchmark in terms of both aesthetic and functional design. Precise contours as well as classic and expressive design characterize the Grand Canyon AL frame, which also impresses with numerous technical innovations. One example is the VCLS stays on the rear triangle, which greatly improve the comfort of this hardtail. The advantage is that the rider's muscles perform better since they do not have to expend so much energy keeping the rear of the bike in check.
So that you're able to maintain a consistent level of performance for several hours, you simply can't afford to suffer from fatigue towards the end of a race or after an extended ride. The only solution is to relieve pressure on the muscles effectively. How is this possible? With the effective use of a suspension on the hardtail.
The solution: Canyon VCLS technology. VCLS stands for Vertical Comfort, Lateral stiffness. Narrow seat stays in combination with the Maximus seat tube increase both comfort and performance. The frame effectively absorbs shocks from uneven road surfaces and still feels responsive thanks to its lateral stiffness. This is exactly what one would expect from a race bike. The VCLS technology allows you to maintain your high-performance so you can gain those decisive centimeters in the final sprint.
Narrow at the top, elliptical at the bottom and flattened on one side: The patented Maximus seat tube allows maximum stiffness of the rear triangle for sprints thanks to the wider contact area of the hollow section bottom bracket shell. A front derailleur can be easily mounted thanks to the flattened right side, and the tapered tube which becomes narrower towards the top and the VCLS Stays allows for better damping characteristics despite the extreme stiffness of the rear triangle. Damping performance and stability while sprinting – these are the two outstanding qualities which are unified in every Canyon bicycle.
