MORE RESERVES DURING A MARATHON

You live for challenges. Whatever you take on, you do it right. You need the marathon… the longer the better. While steep climbs push others to their limits, you still smile when turning the pedals. You really begin to turn it on during the latter stages of the race. You need a bike that combines the weight of a hardtail with the advantages of a fully. There’s no doubt that you’ll want the Lux MR.

Comfort and performance. These are the words that explain the characteristics of the Canyon Lux to a tee. Especially on long rides the rider benefits from the high level of comfort provided by the suspension. However, the bike is also stiff and light enough to be able to ride right up there at the front in a 24-h race. I love bombing down the Canyon home trails on this great fully. That’s just mega fun!"

SIZE DEPENDENT TUBE DIAMETERS

Long tubes are not as stiff as shorter tubes of the same dimensions. The comparison becomes clearer when one breaks a pencil in half. The closer to the centre the pencil is broken, the more difficult it becomes and when the pencil is only a few centimetres long, then it's almost impossible to break it in two with your bare hands. That is the reason why larger frame sizes tend not to be as stiff as smaller ones. However that's different at Canyon. Every carbon fibre frame has its own shape and every shape has its own customized tube diameter. This is how we have achieved disproportionally high levels of stiffness with large frames, and at the same time have made disproportionally high weight savings with smaller frames.

SHORT DAMPER-ROCKER FOR LOW \NAXLE LOADING OF THE DAMPER

Longer levers create greater forces, shorter ones create lower forces. Hence the Canyon developers configured the damper on the Lux MR in such a way that the damper's rocker arm is as short as possible. The lateral load arising during out-of-saddle riding or during speedy turns is countered by this design with its enormous stiffness. This is important so that your muscular strength is used solely for forward motion during race situations. Furthermore, the short rocker arm has a further major advantage for race bikes: It weighs much less than a larger arm.

DOUBLE WALLED HOLLOW BOTTOM BRACKET SHELL

The double walled hollow bottom bracket shell continues exactly where other modern cranks stop: extraordinary stiffness at a very low weight. But how exactly is this done? By increasing the diameter. That's why the latest generation of cranks offer a measurably improved power transmission compared to the predecessors of just a few years ago. The hollow built crank arms allow an enhanced diameter at a reduced total weight. This is why Canyon is moving forward with the double walled hollow bottom bracket shells. This design allows improved stiffness at a very low weight. The cross sectional area increases – similar to the above mentioned crank arms – and thus the stiffness in the bottom bracket area which is essential during accelerations is improved. Furthermore, the bottom bracket offers a larger supporting surface for the patented Maximus Seattube thanks to its wider design.

OVERSIZED DROPOUTS

High quality aluminium drop-outs guarantee stability in the rear triangle of the LUX MR. They also disperse excess heat while braking. That is very important, above all on long descents. Brake discs can reach several hundred degrees in extreme braking situations. This heat must be effectively dispersed. The re-milled oversized drop-outs are ideally suited to this purpose. This allows an extremely low frame weight of less than 1800 grammes to be achieved.
