Very good - test winner
2.2 - Test winner
"The magnificent frame and equipment details ensure high comfort, while riding safety and willing handling inspire beginners. The equipment is top-class. Outstanding!" is the judgement of the testers at RoadBIKE (06/2013).
For the new model year, we have given the successful test-winning bike a face lift and endowed it with brand-new Canyon parts. The highlight is the new One One Eight SL carbon fork weighing only 350 grams, which precisely executes your steering commands with the best stiffness and comfort values. The straight, slender arms of the fork also give the premium aluminium frame an even more sporty and attractive appearance. In conjunction with the optimised geometry, this delivers a comfortable and stiff bike into your hands with powerful propulsion. It will be able to demonstrate its qualities on training rides and in the sprint to the finish during open-entry races.
We have fitted the Canyon VCLS post for the highest level of comfort on all Roadlite AL models. Thanks to special fibre laying, it is possible to achieve the best damping values and reliably absorb shocks. This reduces the strain on your muscles, so you retain your performance capabilities for longer. The light, asymmetrical Canyon seat clamp provides gentle clamping and has already been honoured with the iF product design award. Perfect workmanship and unique riding properties from as little as 999 euros – with this bike, you can experience the sporty side of Canyon technology.
Narrow at the top, elliptical at the bottom and flattened on one side: The patented Maximus seat tube allows maximum stiffness of the rear triangle for sprints thanks to the wider contact area of the hollow section bottom bracket shell. A front derailleur can be easily mounted thanks to the flattened right side, and the tapered tube which becomes narrower towards the top and the VCLS technology allows for better damping characteristics despite the extreme stiffness of the rear triangle. Damping performance and stability while sprinting – these are the two outstanding qualities which are unified in every Canyon bicycle.
Especially in the fork area the advantages of carbon material come fully into play. Carbon is light and stiff, which makes the bike more agile, but still flexible when used correctly. This makes the entire bike safer. With the One One Eight CF fork, we fell back on our wealth of experience, namely the findings from the One One Four SLX test-winning fork . The result: a stiff and light fork, which offers maximal compatibility with most stems on the market, thanks to its continuous 1 1/8 inch steerer. The carbon fork with aluminium shaft and its ideal stiffness values ensures smooth running and a precise response from the steering. Weighing in at just 520 grammes the fork has made a significant contribution to further weight reductions on the Roadlite platform.
