  • Well balanced suspension
  • Well thought out spec
  • Ergonomic saddle quick release
  • Comfortable central position on the bike

How much tour capability can you get for 2200 Euro? BIKE magazine tested seven 26 inch full suspension bikes and a 27.5 inch bike in the Karwendel mountain region of Tirol. The Canyon Nerve AL 8.0 scooped the test outright.

"The award winning Canyon Nerve AL demonstrates just how timeless, well balanced and at the same time modern a classic bike can be. The geometry provides the rider with a comfortable and central position on the bike and one can simply pedal off regardless whether the terrain is a steep uphill, over sticks and stones, downhill or protected from the wind on gravel tracks.

The rider doesn't need to give a blocking fork or shock a second thought with this bike because the Fox CTD suspension works efficiently even when in the descend mode and also delivers a very sensitive response. The Trail and Climb mode becomes almost superfluous.

The Shimano XT shift system guides the chain precisely across the cassette and the Nobby Nic tyres is a great compromise no matter what the terrain. The spec on this bike is well chosen and functional."

VERDICT: "Well balanced sport tourer with a great suspension. You won't get more performance for just 1999 Euro than with the Canyon Nerve AL 8.0."
