Preparations


The fork shaft must be clean, dry and free of burr before starting the installation work.

Install the stem

1. Remove the Ahead cover and the spacer from the fork shaft using the 5 mm Allen key. Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3

Important:
Do not undo the screw connection of the bottom half of the stem which is already installed. Otherwise you will have to reset the steering head bearing play. The stem and the steering head bearing has already been set correctly by us.

2. Apply a little grease to the thread and under the screw heads.
3. Position the handlebar in the stem. Align the handlebar so that it is precisely in the centre. Picture 4
4. Place the top half of the stem on the fork shaft and handlebar. Picture 5
5. Now check that the handlebar is correctly positioned and aligned in the stem.
6. Place the two screws from above into the stem and tighten them alternately and crossways to a torque of 5 Nm. Picture 6
7. Place the two screws from below into the stem and tighten them alternately and crossways to a torque of 5 Nm. Picture 7
8. Ensure that the clamping is uniform.
9. Secure the top half to the fork shaft using the silver screw using a torque of 5 Nm. Picture 8
10. Place the spacer on the stem and fork shaft. Picture 9
11. Tightening the securing screw on the Ahead cover with a torque of 4 Nm. Picture 10

Care/Maintenance

  • Check that all the bolts are tightened with the correct torque before every ride.
  • Check all the parts at regular intervals for signs of damage, particularly after accidents and falls.
  • Clean all the screws and parts after fitted or removing the stem or handlebar and regrease the screws.

Prepare the fork crowns

1. Clean the thread and the adjusting surfaces at the top of the fork bridge.

Install the stem

2. Apply a little grease to the thread and under the screw heads.
Position the handlebar in the stem. Align the handlebar so that it is precisely in the centre.
3. Insert the 6x25 mm screws into the rear installation holes either through the 45 mm or the 50 mm installation boreholes.
4. Insert the M6x35 mm screws into the corresponding front installation boreholes
5. Insert the screws into the fork crown mounting at the front.
6. Tighten the screws on the fork crown by hand initially.
7. Tighten the screws on the fork crown alternately crossways with a torque of 10 Nm.
8. Insert the M5x16mm screws into the handlebar mounting and align the handlebar.
9. Tighten the screws on the handlebar mounting alternately and crossway with a torque of 6 Nm.

Care/Maintenance

  • Check that all the bolts are tightened with the correct torque before every ride.
  • Check all the parts at regular intervals for signs of damage, particularly after accidents and falls.
