Since click pedals were invented several different systems have been able to establish themselves. Due to these different standards when you purchase new cycling shoes there are normally no cleats supplied. These are supplied when you buy a new pair of pedals. The cleat forms a link between the shoe and the pedal. On the majority of pedals it is also possible to adjust the release tension.
The thread insert is part of the shoe itself. Grease the thread before fitting the cleats and tighten the cleat bolts after the first ride. Please observe the torque recommended by the shoe manufacturer when tightening.
The cleat is the link between the shoe and the pedal. Depending on the pedal system you have you must either twist your foot outwards or to the rear to “get out of the pedals”.
Ensure that all screws and bolts are tightened to the correct torque. The correct torque is indicated on the component itself, in the bike manual provided with your new bike, or here in the Technical Support Center.
