In the hardtail category for 10 000 SEK the competition is fierce. Bike magazine Kadens threw itself in at the deep end and tested eight bikes, our Grand Canyon AL 6.0 was of course involved. The test was designed to test appropriate bikes for the beginner who might want to try a marathon. The bike should be upgradeable if the rider's interest and demands on the bike grow.
Kadens thinks that buyers will get a lot more bike for the money in online shopping compared to traditional stores. "The specifications are simply a notch sharper than its competitors, the price is very competitive and the build quality is first class."
When Kadens took a closer look at the Grand Canyon AL 6.0 the bike displayed no weaknesses but showed that for under 10 000 SEK you get a bike that's ".. good for a lot more than pure beginner cycling." All parts of the thoughtful specification deserved a good rating . Shimano's SLX group "... good for hard riding on a really high level." And so it goes with the fork RockShox Reba SL, Schwalbe tyres and brakes from Avid. There is nothing to complain about.
The testers appreciate not only the frame and specification but also the experience itself, "riding characteristics are on the neutral side, we experience the Grand Canyon as stable but with some wonderful nerve." Kadens observes that the wide gear ratio is suitable for all types of terrain which the rider will appreciate when the riding gets tough ...
Verdict: “A good frame has become even better. Add a well-thought out specification and a low price and you´ll get a top bike.”
