2010 will be the year of round numbers: Exactly 10 years successful bike design at Canyon. It's now 20 years since I built my first mountainbike and 30 years since I first overcame the mountain near my home called "The Kandel" in the southern Black Forest on a self-built bike knocked together with "bulky rubbish", a moped suspension fork and drum brakes.
The breathtaking speed of technological advances in MTB sport since its very beginnings has created fascinating opportunities all over the world for two-wheel transportation off-road and away from cars. The link between technology and nature - and the possibility to drive a machine forward with one's own strength is increasing in popularity and inspiring more and more people.
The Alps, the world's largest mountainbike arena with its century old network of mountain tracks, trade routes and most recently increasing numbers of bikeparks and flowtrails offer enough space for everybody and for me and represent an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
