Nerve XC 9.0 SL

Mountainbike 03/2011

"Especially for the Nerve XC it's a case of jumping on board, stamping on the pedals and having mega fun - no matter what type of terrain!"

The current super touring bikes aren't built for extremes, but are mega fun to ride. In the March 2011 edition of Mountainbike magazine it was put to the test whether they can deliver what they boast. Canyon sent its Nerve XC 9.0 SL into battle. The verdict of the testers: Overall mark Outstanding. Test victory for the Nerve XC!

What does one have to pay attention to when one wants to build a successful basic platform? According to the testers an important part is to "do without what full suspension touring bikes banked on not so long ago. Adjustable suspensions and lowerable suspension forks, which are more cumbersome to operate and heavier than 'standard' forks, are now seldom to be found on a modern touring full suspension bike". In the case of the Canyon Nerve XC 9.0 SL this means first class Fox suspension elements consisting of a Fox RP 23 shock and a F120 suspension fork now form part of the bike's equipment. But the testers from Mountainbike magazine pay attention to more than just the bike's equipment. "First, the combination of a drive-neutral, efficient but nevertheless sensitive suspension coupled with a well balanced and safety enhancing geometry results in a superb overall concept".

The testers were totally impressed by the Canyon Nerve XC on the test stand and on the trails."From the Canyon saddle quick release and the supplied […] torque wrench, right through to the perfect cable routing - the meticulousness that is in the Nerve is a joy to behold. Indeed, the entire bike is bereft of any criticism. The revised frame, which is 40g lighter, is very stiff and therefore consistently turns the potential of the exclusive equipment with lightweight wheels [...] and Shimano XTR transmission into powerful forward thrust. In addition, the drive neutral 4-link rear triangle, the sensationally low weight and the wonderfully central and competitive riding position make a decisive contribution to the infectious appeal of the bike from the Koblenz based manufacturer [...]. The Nerve is strikingly confident downhill. Whether it's a fast downhill or a nasty root trail, the finely balanced geometry and the hungry rear triangle have any situation under control! The bike's handling ranges from playful right through to neutral depending on the rider's needs. Tourists - what more do you want?"

Whether it's an ambitious marathon or soft all mountain use, the perfectly balanced and equipped Nerve XC impresses right across the board! Canyon can!
