30-09-2016, TRIATHLON Road To Kona

Defending The Crown

All eyes in triathlon are focussed on one island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean right now. Kona is coming. The Ironman World Championships are the showdown of the season. The world's best long distance athletes brought together, all of them on their absolute A-game, to take on the legendary Kona course where Ironman was born.

One man everyone will have their sights set on is Jan Frodeno. Defending Ironman World Champion. Long distance world record holder. Former Olympic champion. In fact, there isn't much left in the sport for Frodo to achieve. But if you're fooled into thinking he doesn't have the hunger to defend his title, then you're wrong

Jan has never been one to take his foot off the gas. Once one objective is accomplished, it's back to the drawing board to work out how to achieve the next one. New training plans, new nutrition or a new cockpit setup. It all adds up.

To take on the notoriously challenging bike course at Kona with its unpredictable and strong winds, Frodo will once again have the highly integrated Speedmax CF SLX to back him up, kitted out with Zipp 808 NSW wheels and a SRAM Red eTap groupset.

We'll have an exclusive pre-race bike check right here before the show gets underway. Don't miss it.
