Canyon Extends Win Streak to Six at La Flèche Wallonne
Starting with Phillipe Gilbert in 2011, every cyclist that has sprinted to victory on the Mur de Huy in the last six years has been riding a Canyon. Yesterday, Alejandro Valverde rode his way into the record books by becoming the first ever to win the Belgian classic three times in a row, and he did it on the Ultimate CF SLX.
At 1,400 meters, the infamous Mur de Huy is not the longest climb around and with a meager altitude gain of 130 meters, it isn't the highest either. However, with gradients as extreme as 26% after over 200 km of racing it is one of cycling’s unique and iconic challenges.
To win on the Mur takes something special: A bike capable of transferring every ounce of power down on the road. Now with six wins over the last six years, it is clear that our team have come up with that something special.
Results like these do not happen by chance. They are the culmination of years of R&D, testing, understanding and experience built up over time. Such a run of success serves as testament to our goal: building the best bikes in the world. Whether Aeroad or Ultimate our bikes are made for racing and made to win.
For another year at least, the Mur belongs to Canyon.
