10-04-2017, CANYON Canyon at Crankworx, Rotorua
Riding on all fronts
Crankworx is never just about one riding discipline. It wouldn't be able to claim the title as organiser of the world's biggest mountain bike festivals if that were the case. And that's what makes it unmissable.
While the northern hemisphere was still getting itself together post-winter, it was all kicking off down in Rotorua, New Zealand. The Canyon Factory Downhill Team made their first full competitive debut with solid top-10s for Troy Brosnan and Mark Wallace. Round One of the 2017 Enduro World Series saw Ines Thoma hit all the right lines and take home a career-best result with 2nd place. Thomas Genon is still on the sidelines recovering from a broken ankle, yet Tomas Lemoine still sent it for the Canyon Factory Freeride Team for 5th at the Slopestyle in memory of McGazza.
Nothing raises the stakes more than when you're riding with a purpose. All Canyon riders were out to celebrate the life of Flo Goral, who passed away suddenly before the event got going. Manager of the Canyon Factory Enduro Team throughout its entire existence, supervisor to the Canyon Factory Freeride Team and a driving force in getting the Canyon Factory Downhill Team off the ground, Flo will be remembered for his all-out commitment to his work and the sport he loved.
