Why a carbon gravel bike?

Carbon gravel bikes are all-rounders. Whether you’re pedalling through the landscape or with constant pressure on the pedals over a wide open space, a gravel bike made of carbon knows no limits. It’s the ideal companion for small adventures, long tours and bikepacking routes. The most important advantages of carbon are:

  • Weight: Carbon is significantly lighter than aluminium. The lower the weight, the faster you are for the same power output.
  • Stiffness: Carbon is a particularly stiff material. With high stiffness, power transfer from pedal to speed is more direct and efficient.
  • Comfort: Canyon develops the bikes with a focus on your comfort. Our carbon frames are engineered to absorb impact.

What is carbon and how is it made into a gravel bike frame?

Carbon is the perfect material for gravel bikes in terms of performance. The manufacturers head carbon fibres, lay them in to moulds and solidify their shape using a special resin. The result is a geometry that ensures stability and comfort at low weight.

Who is a carbon gravel bike suitable for?

Carbon gravel bike frames are suitable for both beginners and expert gravel fans. The reason is simple: everyone benefits from low weight and high rigidity. This improves your performance no matter how many watts you put down. On gravel, the comfortable damping of carbon also prevents muscle fatigue.

Carbon or aluminium – is aluminium the right frame for me?

Aluminium has a slight weight disadvantage as a material, which is why carbon is the preferred choice for top performances. When you accelerate with a carbon gravel bike, you immediately feel the powerful acceleration. Your power is transferred directly into speed. Modern aluminium bikes are cheaper and offer high durability.

Who am I: gravel or road cyclist?

A rad bike withits narrow tyres is fast, light and agile on the road. The gravel bike enhances exactly these properties but with more versatility. With the wider and more profiled tyres, you can turn on to uneven forest paths on your ride. On asphalt you can reach high speeds with he drop handlebars, geometry and rigid fork.

The gravel bike also does well in terms of comfort. The handlebar is wider for a more stable feel. The wheelbase and head tube are longer, which relaxes your seating position. The wider tyres and padded saddle leave bumpy ground behind you without any problems.

The road bike is the right choice for anyone who relies on speed and loves a sporty geometry. If you want to experience the landscape and nature up close and flexibly, choose a gravel bike.
