Trail to the Epic
The Cape Epic - mountain biking’s legendary stage race – its breathtaking scenery, brutal conditions and dramatic storylines help it transcend the cycling world. Covering over 700 km and 15,000 m of elevation over the course of seven days, pouring endless sweat and drops of blood into the scorching sands of the African summer, the riders of the Topeak-Ergon Racing Team are going to lay it all on the line.
Lakata and Hynek, Bishop and Kleinhans, two teams of two competing on XC mountain biking’s biggest stage in what has been hyped as the most competitive year in the race’s history. To find out what makes this race so unique and to see what it takes to get a rider and a bike (in this case the Lux) through seven days of mountains and sand and sea salt and sun, we sent a team down to Cape Town to document the pre-race preparation, to capture the trail to the epic.
