01/04/2015, CANYON UCI World Hour Record Attempt

The #PerfectHour is back on!

It takes a lot more than broken bones to keep professional cyclists from fulfilling their goals. Alex Dowsett is no exception: We are thrilled to confirm that the Movistar Team rider is back on track for his attempt on the Hour Record riding the Speedmax WHR. Just weeks after breaking his collarbonein a training crash on home roads, Dowsett will set out to beat the mark of 52.491 KM set by Rohan Dennis. The #PerfectHour is now scheduled to take place at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester, England, on the 2nd of May at 13:00 GMT.

“I'm thrilled to be back on track to attempt the #PerfectHour,” explains Dowsett. “Breaking my collarbone whilst in such good form was a real disappointment, but I've healed 100% and haven't lost much form through it all. Manchester will be a fantastic location and it'll be an honour for me to attempt the record on the same boards as Chris Boardman.”

The Hour Record is one of the purest tests in cycling. It not only exposes a rider’s physical capacity and their ability to suffer, but also places huge demands on every piece of equipment, right down to the smallest bearing. One single watt could make the difference between setting a new record or tragically falling short by a matter of metres.

For this reason alone Canyon developed the Speedmax WHR. Working closely with Movistar Team’s technical partners has resulted in an unrivalled aerodynamic setup that will provide Dowsett with every possible advantage out on track come the evening of the 2nd of May.

Stay tuned for more information on the #PerfectHour coming soon...
