If you like the looks of the Urban 8.0, but think it might not offer all the un-froo-frooy things a serious commuter needs, then slide on over to the Commuter 8.0. This is a commuter bike that sticks to the design language that you love, while including normally unsexy things like lights, racks, and mud guards.
The frame for the 8.0 is made from a light and durable 6066 aluminum that will ensure this baby will be able to withstand the various levels of terrible that normal city road surfaces rate, while not rattling you into the shakes on your way to work. As with the Urban 8.0, you’ll be getting the Shimano Alfine 11-speed internal gear rear hub to take care of the shifting, but it also comes with the SON deluxe SL Hubdynamo in the front wheel, which will connect to the head lamp using internally routed cables in the specially designed Canyon F24 - One One Four SL Disc fork that has dynamo contacts located in the dropouts. It means that you will never have to worry about a battery for your head or rear lights, but it will be powered as you pedal. The Canyon H29 Cockpit integrated bar and stem offers a perfect mounting point for the front Supernova E3 Pure light. Lightweight and secure, it pumps out 205 lumens, making it officially road worthy while the Supernova Tail Light 2 has been integrated into the rear mudguards, and is also bright enough to be road legal even in very strict Germany. The Shimano hydraulic disc brakes with the 160mm rotor guarantee precise and reliable braking in all conditions. Instead of a conventional chain the Commuter 8.0 uses the Continental CDS 1260 belt drive system, which offers a more durable, practically maintenance-free drivetrain. Recognizing that there are folks out there intent on nicking nice bits off bikes, the wheels have been secured with Gravity Nuts wheel guards while the seatpost also uses a Safering Gravity saddle clamp to prevent anyone stealing it. And that’s a particularly good thing since the advanced Canyon S25 VCLS 2.0 CF seatpost with its shock absorbing spring leaf design features on this bike, topped off with the very sleek looking Selle San Marco Regale Urban Performance Canvas saddle. If you’re looking to buy the perfect commuter you can enjoy riding, then the Commuter 8.0 will definitely get you where you need to go.
