TONY MARTIN'S JOURNEY TO THE TOUR DE FRANCE
TT World Champion, Tony Martin, has been building his entire season around clocking the fastest time in Düsseldorf come 1 July. For many commentators, the prospect of the powerful German riding the Speedmax CF SLX to the win on his native turf on a course tailored to his strengths is hard to look beyond. But as always, that’s easier said than done.
Despite possessing the raw talent it takes to win the rainbow stripes in cycling’s purest discipline on four separate occasions, Tony shows that talent can only take you so far. The rest is down to the huge workload he puts in away from the race course, whether that’s with his chiropractor to keep his body in top condition, or with aerodynamics experts on the track to fine-tune his position. It’s all the small things that add up to form the big picture.
In this case, the big picture is the Yellow Jersey in Düsseldorf on 1 July.
