In February 2014, Matthew Heitmann became the new Chief Marketing Officer of Canyon Bicycles. Originating from the USA, Matt brings over ten years of cycling industry experience into his new role, having most recently worked with Swiss manufacturer, BMC Switzerland. His main areas of expertise lie in customer-direct marketing and e-commerce. As part of the Leadership Team, Matthew Heitmann will be responsible for all Canyon marketing on both German and international levels.
The role presents Matt with a new kind of challenge: “With the direct distribution model Canyon has in place, you get to be a lot closer to the customers, and that’s what makes me excited about this new position. Since arriving at Canyon, I’ve been especially impressed by the levels of research, development, and engineering that goes into the products, as well as the Canyon Crew as a whole. The entire team is young, highly motivated, and most importantly, it’s made up of people who love to ride. I’m extremely glad to now be a part of the Canyon Crew, and look forward to working together with them to get the most out of this brand.”
Matt is 47 years old and an experienced road racer and time trialist. This year he hopes to continue competing in masters’ class races and will find no shortage of training partners at Canyon or challenging training routes through the hills surrounding the Canyon.Home in Koblenz.
Canyon founder and CEO, Roman Arnold, welcomes Matt into the company: “We’ve been able to find exactly the right person to take up the position as our new Chief Marketing Officer. Matt brings an international perspective to the role that will open up many new opportunities and as a passionate cyclist, he is the perfect match for us. We’re really pleased to have found someone with so much experience as a successor to Daniel Bley. Working together with Matt will only bring more strength and success to Canyon. At the same time, we are incredibly indebted to Daniel for all the work he has done for us and we wish him all the best for the future.”
