Adjust Fox CTD
CTD stands for “Climb” (Uphill Mode), “Trail” (riding on the flat and for easy trails) and also “Descend” (riding downhill and difficult trails). The CTD technology is fitted to all Fox models with 32mm, 34mm stanchions and Float shocks.
CTD allows the rider to adjust his suspension to the current riding conditions in no time at all. The shock can be conveniently adjusted via a lever on the shock itself or on the handlebar. This allows the low speed compression to be adjusted. This means that the speed at which the shock or fork compresses is adjusted. In the descend mode the compression phase is open and the shock responds very sensitively. Picture 1 In the trail mode the suspension is much stiffer to prevent pedal bob Picture 2; however the suspension responds to obstacles. In the climb mode the compression phase is almost completely closed, thereby completely eliminating pedal bob and still absorbing greater shocks. You set the CTD system using the blue lever. Picture 3.
Some CTD suspension elements are additionally equipped with the Trail Adjust System. This allows the rider to make very fine adjustments to the compression in the Trail mode. There are the three positions soft, medium and firm. The harder the adjustment the more pedal bob is suppressed and the sensitivity of the shock’s response is reduced. You can set the Trail Adjust System function on Fox Float CTD shocks using the black ring. With the red knob you can adjust the rebound. Picture 4
Due to the larger wheels the suspension on 29er bikes is not as susceptible to shocks emanating from the ground as bikes with smaller wheels. Therefore our 29er full suspension bikes are fitted with shocks that have Light-Velocity-Tune. The reduced compression damping means that the rear triangle performs very responsively when, for example climbing on root sections. However the differences to CTD are less noticeable than with shocks with higher levels of compression damping.
