Grand Canyon AL 9.9 SL
"Unveiled at the end of August at the Eurobike, this Canyon with its alloy frame offers access to a 29" at a very competitive price." This was the verdict on the Grand Canyon AL 29.
Unveiled at the end of August at the Eurobike, this Canyon with its alloy frame offers access to a 29” range at a very competitive price. (…) this new 7005 alloy F8 frame offers many of the technical innovations introduced on other recent products. Check this out: a BB30 Press Fit bottom bracket, a Postmount rear brake, a front Directmount derailleur, internal cable routing and also a cable space if the rider opts for telescopic saddle.
Canyon specialities are: the rear triangle which offers a good level of lateral stiffness, flexibility and a Maximus Seattube. The large contact area between seat tube and bottom bracket greatly improves stiffness. The low position of the bottom bracket and resulting low center of gravity gives the bike considerably greater stability.
BIKE magazine’s tester was immediately taken aback by the width of the handlebar which offers a low and forward position on the bike. “But also, the well-chosen 36 bottom bracket and the saddle angle of 74 degrees offer a forward position on the bike which is a real bonus when climbing. The first forest track we came across was rather flat and dry, so we got going quite easily!”
“Canyon’s Grand Canyon AL 29 is a thoroughbred race machine. The low head tube offers a position similar to a sportive 26” bike(…) the braking is also top notch thanks to the quality of the SRAM X0 and the AVID X0 (…) this bike’s performance on the trails is second to none thanks to the mega stiff frame.”
Grand Canyon AL 29 - the ultimate 29" experience.
