Ultimate AL 8.0
In the 2000 Euro price category customers should not make purchase decisions too quickly. Checking out the bike's facts and figures makes the choice easier. The well balanced Canyon got the test win with the verdict "outstanding".
The Canyon Ultimate AL 8.0 is unchanged for the 2013 season. Why should one change a bike which impresses right across the board? Out on the road the alloy Ultimate impresses as a fast all-rounder. The 17cm long headtube means that the rider has sufficient comfort for long tours. Thanks to the steep seat angle and really short wheel base the Canyon accelerates like a true race bike and whizzes nimbly through the tightest of corners. In addition, the alloy frame delivers ride comfort that even some carbon frames can't match. In the weight stakes the stiff frameset takes first place ahead of all the alloy models - including Cannondale and BMC. In addition, the bike boasts a great range of equipment with Campagnolo's Athena groupset at an unchanged and very fair price. A well deserved test victory.
Verdict: Fast and direct as a racer should be. At the same time comfortable and reliable for the long tour – The Ultimate AL excels in every situation. The range of equipment and frame are simply outstanding!
