This is one seriously aero bike!
Dream mark 1.1 - Aerodynamics-mark 1.0
Swim. Canyon. Run. With the Speedmax CF beneath you, setting the bike split alight comes naturally – as proven by Nils Frommhold on his way to victory at Ironman South Africa in 2014. When you’re out of the water, the performance of your equipment is vital so you can ride fast and conserve energy for the final showdown. The Speedmax CF takes aerodynamic efficiency, adjustability and system integration of triathlon bikes to the next level. Our triathlon-specific cockpit and seatposts provide a vast array of different configurations. That means that getting a perfectly streamlined, powerful and comfortable riding position locked in for the long haul is easier than ever.
Extensive wind tunnel and CFD analysis gave way to the Trident tube profiles applied across the Speedmax CF frame. This form is specifically designed to deliver optimum aerodynamic performance at a range of speeds and yaw angles so no matter what the conditions, you’re always saving watts. What’s more, the frame’s impressive lateral stiffness gives the Speedmax CF road bike handling and means that all your power meets the tarmac. With fully integrated brakes and not a single cable exposed to the wind, the Speedmax CF leaves no doubts to its intended purpose. Make your gains where they count the most.
Optimum use of limited space: This is guaranteed by the integrated centre-pull brake which delivers outstanding performance and modulation whilst in addition being around 60g lighter than a conventional rim brake.
The shift and brake cables enter the frame through inserts in the Canyon Aero Stem and nare then routed completely inside the frame. A mere 12cm of Di2 cable is externally routed in the cockpit area. A unique innovation: The front brake cable is routed through the centre of the two headset bearings. This avoids sharp bends in the cables and the rider does not need to exert a great deal of pressure on the lever to achieve powerful braking performance.
Thanks to the Rake Shift inserts the rider can modify the ride characteristics of the bike. There are three available settings (front / centre /rear) with each setting delivering a 2.5mm difference in trail. Greater trail delivers a smoother ride whilst less trail delivers a somewhat more agile frame geometry.
In order to reduce air turbulence around the frame the seat clamp was entirely integrated in the frame. The assembly requires a very low level of tightening torque.
