Nerve XC 8.0

Mountainbike, 12/09

"Mountainbike" magazine put the redesigned best seller 2009 through its paces. More than 3.230 kilometres and elevations of more than 38.200 metres.

Jump on, feel great, have fun. The Canyon Nerve XC 8.0 impressed in the endurance test conducted by "Mountainbike" magazine. At the end the frame covered more than 3.000 kilometres, on rough off-road sections and satisfied the requirements of the testers: "Throughout and at the end of the test both the frame and suspension elements showed no signs of wear and tear or clicking noises." Only the front wheel had to be retrued, but apart from that "the rider's log's categories for "defects" and "wear and tear" were a gaping void." This is significantly the result of the technically unique frame as well as the range of equipment. Canyon's principle "made by bikers for bikers" still counts. And bikers know very well what it comes down to in matters of every-day-use. The testers also are convinced: „The outstanding performance has been possible due to the significant contribution of the well thought out equipment which is anything but basic for this price segment. In terms of long-term durability all parts perform on the highest stage."

After all the stresses and strains of an intense season the time always comes around when the nerves start to jangle for the test candidates. Despite all the positive impressions this is the time when less pleasing findings can come to light. How do the moving parts look, are the bearings still functional, is the rear triangle still responsive? The Nerve XC was also able to impress here. That was the verdict of "Mountainbike" magazine: "No chafing of the Eloxal coating, no worn bearings - the aluminium frame was in top form. [...] Durable technology instead of just optical gimmicks - Canyon shows impressively just how it's done.

Matthias Eberspächer, MB-Tester: "A loyal companion without airs and graces: for me the Canyon XC is the ideal touring bike - at an affordable price."
