Bike 07/10

150 mm at the front promise mega fun downhill and 12.6 kg are easy to ride up the climbs.

“The range of equipment is of a very high standard as per usual with Canyon. The suspension components are the top models from Fox with wide ranging adjustment possibilities. There’s also a Shimano XT shift system, powerful brakes and the thick tyres give the rider an enormous sense of security on rough downhills. The virtually fool-proof handling on the downhill and uphill as well as a well balanced suspension form the basis of this bike earning the title “Jack of all trades”."

The bike also impressed on the test stand. It didn’t just offer the highest levels of stiffness but also the best stiffness to weight ratio (STW ratio). When the rear triangle was tested, the Anti-Squat-Kinematic really raised eyebrows. Both pedal kick-back and bob were well within acceptable limits on all three chainrings and these are all great prospects for an all-mountain bike.

Verdict: Canyon has really hit the bullseye and produced a well engineered all-mountain machine.
