Stack and Reach
Stack and Reach describes how it feels to sit on the bike. These two measurements are independent of the bike's setup such as saddle setback or seatpost length.
As stack grows, the seated position becomes more relaxed and upright (if reach stays the same).
As reach grows, the seated position becomes more stretched and sporting (if reach stays the same).
This means that the relationship of stack to reach is important. The stack to reach ratio of Canyon road bikes is essentially constant over all the frame sizes.
Bikes with the SPORT geometry: ratio above 1.55
Bikes with the SPORT PRO geometry: ratio 1.45-1.55
Bikes with the PRO geometry: ratio below 1.45
Measuring stack and reach:
Stack: centre of the bottom bracket to the top edge of the top tube, at right angles to the ground
Stack and reach on triathlon and time trial bikes
Then armpad stack and reach is used here: the reach is measured from the armpads. Please consult the download for the stack and reach of the Speedmax CF.
How to measure armpad stack and reach:
Stand your bike with its front wheel against a wall
Measure from the ground to the centre of the armpad: distance B+C
Measure the distance from floor to bottom bracket: distance E
Subtract the second value from the first (B+C)-E = armpad stack figure 1
Measure the distance from the bottom bracket to the wall: distance A+D
Then subtract the distance from the wall to the middle of the armpad from this (A+D)-F = armpad reach
