The higher the STW, the stiffer the frame becomes given the same weight. Achieving a high STW is all about optimising the tube forms and the materials used.
Enhancing the Ultimate's aerodynamic performance meant every single tube profile was reshaped. The Ultimate you know now has narrower tubes for minimal frontal surface area together with deeper profiles that reduce air turbulence.

The balanced geometry has a stack-to-reach ratio of 1.45 and is ideal for the discerning rider. The geometry places you in a riding position that is performance-focussed, while still remaining comfortable.
As speed rises, aerodynamic drag increases to the power of three. At 20 km/h, the proportion of overall wind resistance is 50 %, while up at 45 km/h it’s over 90 %.
We broke down and analysed each part of the Ultimate to define where the greatest potential lay for aerodynamic improvement. Wind tunnel testing identified the head and down tubes as major areas for aerodynamic enhancement.
An untapered 1 ¼ fork shaft delivers handling performance and cockpit torsional stiffness while keeping weight down. Low frontal surface area is achieved with a compact and lightweight (33 g) Acros headset bearings combined with a subtle hourglass shape.
