Nerve CF 8.0
14 touring full suspension bikes with well engineered geometries and classic 26 inch wheels costing around 3000 Euro took part in the test conducted by Mountainbike magazine.
"An independently functioning kinematic, great attention to detail besides being extremely light: the Nerve CF is the best engineered bike ever to have rolled off the production line of the Koblenz based direct retailer. With its premium carbon frame the Canyon weighs a mere 2345g - that's 1000g lighter than the heaviest bike in the test.
The high-tech frame is equipped with numerous technical refinements and embarrasses the competition with its flex-carbon stays on the rear triangle and conventional features such as Postmount, thru-axle on therear wheel, Press-Fit bottom bracket, tapered head tube and internally routed cables. Moreover the bike leads the test field in the weight stakes, weighing in at a mere 2345g.
In addition the Nerve CF 8.0 offers a premium range of equipment that's just a cut above the rest. The Nerve CF 8.0 is in its element with anything ranging from alpine cross and marathon right through to a quick spin round the trails. The carbon weapon eagerly ploughs its way ahead and guarantees swift forward thrust with its lightweight wheels and competitive position on the bike, which ensures maximum pedaling efficiency. Optimum levels of traction are delivered by the drive train neutral flex stays on the rear triangle, whose design delivers a sporty and yet firm ride. On the downhill, however, the rear triangle reliably absorbs any shock.
Thanks to the stiff chassis, well balanced geometry, well engineered cockpit and Ergon grips the Nerve CF 8.0 whizzes safely along the trail. The adjustable seat post also offers further freedom of movement to the rider when it's needed.
VERDICT: The lively ride and versatility of the new Nerve CF 8.0 allowed the bike to scoop the overall test victory. In addition the bike impresses with its premium frame and well thought out range of equipment.
