Nerve CF 8.0
For those who want to avoid the mega sized wheels of the 29ers, they will find alternatives in the short test in Mountain Bike magazine, which checked out several dream tourers on 26 inch wheels and costing around 3000 Euro.
The Canyon Nerve CF 8.0 with 26 inch wheels was the hands-down test winner in its category. The excellent equipment impresses just as much as the extremely lightweight carbon frame, which weighs in at a mere 2345g. In addition the lightweight wheels and the competitive rider position make the Nerve a real rocket.
The rear triangle is sporty and firm as well as drive-train neutral, yet out on the trail the rear triangle reliably absorbs the bumps and the entire range of travel is used to cope with the most intense shocks. The bike boasts superb uphill and downhill characteristics as well as top parts such as Ergon grips and vario seat post. These all make the lightweight Nerve extremely diverse, making the bike suitable for anything ranging from marathon to alpine cross.
Verdict: The versatile Nerve CF 8.0 impresses with a lightweight carbon frame, well thought out equipment and an efficient suspension.
