World-renowned product designer and artist Elena Salmistraro has conjured the magic of color to create a joyful Aeroad CFR.
Energy is everything, and I like to use strong, full colours. I want to see an explosion of energy in the object.
Meet Elena
Elena Salmistraro lives in Milan, producing strikingly eclectic and imaginative work for the likes of Disney, Apple, Nike and Ikea. In 2022 she won Frame magazine’s Best Designer of the Year award, but as she says: “design needn’t be heavy and boring. It can deal with serious topics, but always with a smile.”

“Working on a bicycle was a brand new challenge. I had the idea to add blue lines to my original design: thin but decisive, similar to fingerprints or drops of water, which interrupt and emphasise the composition. Each fingerprint represents the direct contact of a cyclist with the bicycle, like a personal signature.”

Imagining a bike in motion, speeding towards the sun, light dancing on its surfaces, Elena used a kaleidoscopic colour concept in her design: “I thought it was a perfect combination of modernity and fun, ideal for attracting attention.”
