Using the Shimano Ultegra Di2 will give this bike the sort of clean, crisp shifting performance with the aid of the Di2 button shifters that are perfect for the aero cockpit, so you’ll never skip a gear. The CF Basebars combined with the fully integrated V21 AL Aero stem not only provides an aerodynamic face to the wind, but offers a wide range of adjustability with spacers and extensions. Hydration and nutrition storage systems have been designed to sneak in between the bars. These storage points, though, are also easily removed, making the bike UCI compliant, which will be important for any serious road racer. If you are buying the Speedmax CF SLX 8.0 SL with a notion of competing in one of those mass start triathlons, you can be certain this will be the bike to help you to pick off all those folks who are slightly faster swimmers than you.

BIKE CLASSIFICATION: Bikes of this category are designed for riding on hard-surface roads where the wheels remain in permanent contact to the ground. These are in general road-racing bicycles with racing handlebars or straight handlebars, triathlon or time trial bicycles. The permissible maximum overall weight comprising rider, luggage and bicycle should not exceed 120 kg. Under certain circumstances, this permissible maximum weight can be further limited by the component manufacturers’ recommendations for use. Proven cyclocross bikes with racing handlebars and cantilever or disc brakes are a special case in this category. In addition, these bikes are also suitable for gravel paths and off-road trails where a short loss of tire contact with the ground due to small stairs or steps at a height of 15 to 20 cm can occur.
