Using the Canyon Perfect Positioning System, you can determine your ideal frame size based on your body measurements. To find your size, just fill out the form on the PPS page.
How does Canyon measure the size of its bike frames?
We measure our frames German-style: i.e. by measuring the complete length of the seat tube, from the middle of the bottom bracket to the top of the seatpost clamp. Please be aware that other manufacturers might measure their bikes the Italian way – only up to the middle of the top tube. To make sure you get the right size bike, please use our Perfect Positioning System.
How does Canyon measure the weight of its bikes and frames?
The weight of bikes is always indicated for models in size M. For frames, the weight is also indicated in size M, in colour matte black, and without extra components such as the headset, derailleur hanger, and shock (on mountain bikes). Depending on the colour and size of the bike or frame, and due to manufacturing deviations of the components, the total weight may vary.
Why does the XS E-Bike come with 650b wheels?
The frame geometry doesn't allow a 29" wheel for frame size XS. A 650b (27.5") wheel gives you a better fit and riding experience.

Are carbon frames equally as stable as smaller ones, even with larger frame sizes?
Every carbon frame size has its own shape and the fitting tube diameter. This allows us to achieve disproportionately high stiffness for large frame sizes, and we can save above average weight for smaller frames.
What types of tyres are there and what difference do they make?
Clincher tire A clincher tire is the standard of bicycle tires today. The wire ring in the tyre bead prevents the tyre from expanding under pressure and jumping off the rim.
Foldable tyre The foldable tyre is a special case of the clincher. Here, the wire is replaced by a bundle of Kevlar threads. This allows the tyre to fold up and, depending on the size of the tyre, it becomes approx. 50-90 g lighter.
Tubular tyre With the tubular, the tube is sewn directly into the tyre. The tyre is then glued onto a special rim.
Tubeless tyre With tubeless tyres, no inner tube is needed. The tyre and rim are designed to seal directly against each other. Special rims and special tyres are required.

Can I fit a coil shock on my e-bike?
No. We designed the Spectral:ON’s kinematics with the spring curve of an air shock in mind. Moreover, coil shocks are not ideal in designs that use clevis-mount shock extensions and rockers. The forces transferred (in such a design) to the smaller-diameter damper shafts used in coil shocks is quite high and can lead to shock failures. Air-sprung shocks are better suited to this design because they utilize larger-diameter damper shafts that better withstand those forces and thereby increase shock life.
What makes the suspension more linear on my e-bike?
We fine-tuned the suspension kinematics (including a new rocker design) to give you more useable travel and greater tuning options.

DHL Freight ship all of our E-Bikes. This is because our E-Bikes are heavier and larger than a traditional bike.
An E-Bike is classified as Class 9 dangerous goods because of the battery.
What should I keep in mind when returning my Canyon e-bike or e-bike battery?
The registration of an e-bike return is particularly important, since the shipment must always be registered as a dangerous good. We instruct our service partner DHL Freight for you, so that your e-bike is picked up directly at your home and arrives safely at our premises.
How does returning e-bikes and batteries work? In both cases, the return shipment is made via DHL Freight. Once you have registered your return, a DHL Freight representative will contact you by phone or email to arrange a date for collection. Please note that an exact time cannot be arranged. Usually, the pickup can be limited to the morning or afternoon.
What do I have to send back? Please return all products specified for return. If you have only specified the battery, please return only the battery properly. If you have specified the entire e-bike, please return the entire e-bike with all components. Please make sure that you include the key to the e-bike battery with the return.
Do I have to pack my e-bike specially? E-bikes with batteries are a class 9 hazardous material, so you need special packaging. Of course, you can return the e-bike in the original shipping carton, as this complies with the regulations. Please make sure that the battery is installed in the e-bike for shipping.
Do I have to specially pack the e-bike battery? The installed e-bike battery is a class 9 hazardous material, so you need special packaging. You can request this separate e-bike battery box from us. Alternatively, you can return the battery installed in your e-bike in the E-Bike Guard. This not only means less effort for you when packing, but also easier handling when returning the battery. In this case, the battery box is not needed. Should you decide to return the battery in the packaging, we will send you the appropriate packaging together with a new ADR cover letter in advance, which you must attach to the outside of the packaging. This is not necessary if the battery is returned installed on your e-bike.
Please let us know if your E-Bike Guard or battery box is damaged or no longer present. We will gladly send you a replacement.
Can I return a defective e-bike battery? Please note that severely damaged e-bike batteries cannot be returned under any circumstances.
How do I notice that my e-bike battery is defective? There are several ways that you can identify a damaged battery, for example:
– Damaged or significantly deformed housing
– Contact points on metal parts of the battery
– Parts of the plastic housing are melted
– Heating of the battery when switched off
– Battery leakage
– Batteries identified as defective by the battery management system (BMS)
How can I dispose of my e-bike battery? Please dispose of the battery properly if any of the above points apply. As proof we would like to ask you to take a photo of the battery with the serial number. This is located on the underside of the battery. You can usually return your defective battery to local recycling centers. Contact your local battery disposal facilities for further information. Often local hardware stores and e-bike dealers also offer the possibility to accept the batteries and dispose of them properly. Of course, if you’re in Germany, you can also hand in a defective battery personally at our service workshop in Koblenz.

What are the advantages of carbon over e.g. aluminium?
The advantages of carbon compared to e.g. aluminium are as follows:
Carbon is significantly lighter with almost the same surface area.
By manufacturing the material in layers, certain areas, e.g. of a frame, can be made stronger and thus stiffer. Other areas, however, can be made significantly thinner and even lighter. Thus, a component can be made significantly stiffer in the required areas and sufficiently elastic in others.
Compared to aluminium, carbon has a better fatigue strength.
Carbon does not rust or corrode.
How can I tell that carbon parts are broken or need to be replaced?
Defects in carbon are usually recognized by cracks, breaks, holes or dents. Before an optical defect becomes apparent, crunching, creaking or popping noises occur. These noises occur when the carbon layers separate and rub against each other. If any of this occurs, caution is advised, and the bike should be taken for inspection and examined.
Replacement of carbon parts is usually only necessary after a real defect, for example due to a fall or incorrect assembly. The life cycle of carbon products is usually longer than most riders keep the product.
What can carbon withstand?
A frame or other component made of carbon is generally much stiffer and more resistant to tension than aluminium, for example. If all parts are mounted correctly and without damage, there is little that a carbon frame cannot withstand.
All carbon components are designed for maximum load. After all, even the pros from the racing bike, mountain bike and cyclocross sector ride with our frames of the same design - as anyone can buy in our webshop.
What can I do to make my carbon bike last as long as possible?
If you take note of the following advice, then you will be able to keep riding your Canyon problem-free for years to come:
If you mount carbon parts, or screw parts to a carbon frame, always pay attention to the torques with which the screws must be tightened. You will find the correct torques in the user manual of your Canyon.
Carbon parts do not have unlimited durability. Therefore
stems
and
handlebars
should be exchanged for new parts at regular intervals. The maximum service life of the components can be found in the respective manufacturers' manuals.
Do not use grease when mounting, but only special carbon assembly paste.
Clean carbon only with a soft, dry cloth, water or mild soapy water and then seal the surface with hard wax.
Make sure that carbon handlebars are approved for mounting parts such as bar ends. Time trial attachments must not be mounted on carbon handlebars unless expressly approved by Canyon.
Which bicycle components can be made of carbon?
In the bicycle industry, carbon as a material has long been used. Nowadays almost every component of a bicycle is made of carbon. Among them:
Frame
Fork
Wheels
Handlebar / Cockpit
Seat Posts
Saddles
Cranks
Especially smaller components such as front derailleurs, bottle cage or chain guides are often made of carbon. Carbon can also be found as a component in the clothing sector - in full-carbon helmets, knee pads with carbon plates or even in the soles of racing bike shoes.
Can carbon be repaired?
Depending on the type and degree of the defect, carbon parts may well be repairable. In any case, however, our service workshop should be contacted for this. As a hobbyist, nobody should attempt to repair carbon parts themselves.
Can carbon suddenly break?
Except in the event of a fall or due to incorrect installation, no. Before an optical defect becomes apparent, crunching, creaking or popping noises occur. These noises occur when the carbon layers separate and rub against each other. If any of this occurs, caution is advised and the bike should be taken for inspection and examined.
Is it normal that you sometimes see the carbon structure through the paint?
The use of a new manufacturing process and coating system allows Canyon to provide a direct view of the carbon fibers. This way the fiber coating of each frame is visible and each chassis gets a unique finish. Depending on the angle of the incident light, the appearance of this finish can vary. This does not affect the frame or the paint.
Canyon thus shows what the unidirectional carbon fabrics used really look like and takes a completely new path - away from the mainstream and towards a new look characterized by functionality.
What is carbon?
Carbon is a so-called fibre composite material and is made of two materials that are combined. One is the carbon fibres and the other is a corresponding epoxy resin as an adhesive. In the combination, this results in a strong and at the same time light material which, in its not yet solid state, can be brought into almost any shape and cured in it. Several carbon layers are superimposed during production.
Why don´t the standard powermeters from 4iiii fit the Canyon Bikes?
The 4iiii powermeters Podiiiium, Precision and Precision Pro usually have a distance of 80mm from the centre of the pod to the BB-axis. This distance would lead to bottlenecks and possible consequential damage or malfunctions on most Canyon road bikes. To prevent this, we have developed a custom version: The 4iiii Precision Custom Powermeter, which is already installed on corresponding bikes during production. For our Canyon bikes we need a distance of 120mm instead of 80mm to avoid narrow spots.
The retrofitting of standard 4iiii powermeters is usually not approved by us. In individual cases it may be that the standard version fits, but in principle this is not the case, so we offer a separate solution.
What is Boost?
Boost is basically an open standard for all manufacturers, which describes the dimensions of the rear hub, front hub and crank of the mountain bike (MTB). The rear wheel hub increases from 112 to 148mm and the front wheel hub from 100 to 110mm width. At the same time, the chainline moves further outwards, which is why the boost simultaneously requires adjustments to cranks and chainrings. The crank width remains unchanged. Boost is a completely new standard which is not compatible with 110/20 or 100/15.
I need a new derailleur hanger. How do I find the right one?
There are several ways to find the right derailleur hanger for your bike. You can either log in to your
MyAccount
(if you have already registered separately) and look in your Bike Garage. There you will be shown the right derailleur hanger for your bike. Alternatively, you can also use our
derailleur hanger finder. Enter either the serial number of your bike or the part number of your derailleur hanger under the other tab if you still have your old derailleur hanger at hand. This will show you the right derailleur hanger and you can order it directly.
What is an aero bike?
Aero bikes feature a wider, streamlined frame profile, designed to slip through the air.
An aero bike has 2 main properties. 1, to reduce aerodynamic drag, the greatest force a cyclist must overcome and 2, to transfer as much power from the rider to the bike.
Historically, aero bikes have been heavy due to the wider frame profile and featured an aggressive geometry, to keep the rider as low and aerodynamic as possible.
Advances in carbon engineering have seen a reduction in aero bike weight in the past seasons, with many Pro builds now coming closer than ever to to elusive 6.8 kg UCI weight limit.
The new Aeroad also features a balanced geometry, meaning riders no long have to sacrifice comfort for speed.
Do I need an aero bike?
If you typically ride more than 14 km/h, then yes, you need an aero bike.
Aerodynamic drag is the biggest resistance in cycling. From just 14 km/h on the flat it is the greatest force a rider has to overcome, trumping weight or rolling resistance. Beyond that, the power required to overcome aerodynamic drag increases greatly the faster you ride.
Historially, the long and low geometry of an aero bike has been offputting to recreational road cyclists. The new aeroad features a balanced geometry, making the speedy efficiency of an Aeroad more accessible for everyone.
Service information about the new Aeroad
Do you have questions about the new Aeroad, how to set it up or what kind of modifications are possible? All service information about the new Aeroad can be found here.
Can I install a different cockpit on the 2021 Aeroad?
On Aeroad CF SL models which do not feature full integration, swapping out the cockpit is possible to any other system, provided the stem is compatible with a 1 ¼” steerer. On Aeroad CF SLX and CFR models which feature full integration, this is a proprietary system that enables simple cockpit height and width adjustment. Stem length on each size is carefully selected using our extensive PPS data and, in our experience, is the correct length for most riders.
Will there be a triathlon extension for the 2021 Aeroad?
Triathlon extensions are not currently compatible on the new Aeroad.
What brake disc sizes can I install on the 2021 Aeroad?
160 mm is the maximum rotor size, which come as standard on all but the smallest sizes. It is possible to downsize to a 140 mm rotor as well.
Can I fit all kinds of saddles on the 2021 Aeroad?

Can I install a 27.5 rear wheel and make this a proper "mullet" bike?
No. Doing so would severely compromise its performance.
Why 27.5-inch wheels?
27.5-inch wheels have several benefits. All things being equal, 27.5 wheels tend to be lighter than 29-inch wheels, since there is simply less spoke and rim material required. Again, all other wheel components being equal, 27.5 wheels can be stronger at a given weight than their bigger 29er counterparts. It's also easier to build shorter wheelbase bikes with the smaller 27.5 wheels. Not surprisingly, riders who prioritize agility and are looking for the most responsive and “flickable” bike possible are best served with a Spectral 27.5.
How much suspension travel does it have?
Spectral 27.5 models feature 150-160mm of front and 150mm of rear suspension.
Why 29-inch wheels?
The larger wheelsize delivers improved roll over, greater traction from the tires’ larger footprint, and greater rider confidence at speed thanks to increased centrifugal stability and a longer wheelbase. If you are looking for the most playful and nimble ride quality possible, check out the Spectral 27.5 models.
What kind of bike is the Spectral 29?
If you can only have one mountain bike in your garage, the Spectral 29 is that bike. It’s a solid, do-it-all kind of trail bike. It’s both an efficient climber and a very capable descender, with plenty of travel to bail you out of trouble.
Can I install a 29er front wheel and make this a proper "mullet" bike?
No. We don't recommend it. First off, it would compromise the bike's performance. Second, you'd need to also buy a 29er-compatible suspension fork to ensure that you have sufficient fork-to-tire clearance. That's a spendy proposition, particularly when the end result is less-than-ideal geometry.
How much suspension travel does it have?
We offer Spectral 29 models in two different suspension configurations: Fox-equipped bikes with 160F/150R travel and RockShox-equipped models with 150F/150R travel.
Can I get an aluminum Spectral 29er?
At this time, the Spectral 29 is strictly available as a full carbon bike (front and rear triangles).
What kind of bike is the Spectral 27.5?
The Spectral 27.5 is an impressively versatile trail bike. It’s both a quick climber and a very capable descender, with plenty of travel to bail you out of trouble.
Is there a chance to see the Future Mobility Concept in reality?
Yes, in addition to the Precede:ON CF, the Commuter:ON, the FUTURE MOBILITY CONCEPT will also be exhibited in the Canyon Showroom in Koblenz from 01.09.2020.
Will Canyon bring the Future Mobility Concept to the market or will it remain a concept?
At Canyon, we firmly believe that the future of our cities lies with new, clean forms of mobility: and we’re committed to contributing to their development. Currently, we are re-orienting ourselves in the area of City & Trekking bikes, and we will focus strongly on urban mobility in a broader sense in the future. In the coming years we will launch more urban bicycle solutions, but the implementation of other concepts like this will also be intensified. The concept gives us a vision that we want to work towards – quickly.

All of Canyon’s 2021 e-MTBs use the new SHIMANO EP8 motor. Why does Canyon like about the Shimano system?
Shimano’s EP8 drive system has a number of advantages. At 2.6 Kg, the magnesium-clad Shimano EP8 motor is one of the lightest full-power motors on the market. It’s also one of the most powerful, with 85 Nm of peak torque that effectively triples your pedaling power and makes punching up steep climbs that much easier.
But perhaps the trait that we find most compelling in the Shimano motor is its actual ride feel. Shimano’s motor has a very smooth and natural feel at the pedals. And when it comes to integration—the switch and display—Shimano makes one of the cleanest and easy-to-operate systems available.
Shimano also has an excellent track record for reliability and truly global customer support.
Removing the battery
To remove the battery, simply turn the key to unlock the catch, then pull the lever at the top of the down tube.
How many kilometers/miles of riding can riders get out of the fully charged battery?
It’s impossible to give a definitive answer to this question since the range (on any e-bike) depends on several factors including the temperature outside, your weight, your cadence, how you use the power modes, how much you are climbing, etc.
In our own testing, we found the maximum possible range on the previous-generation Shimano STEPS E8000-equipped bikes was 100 kilometers in “Eco” mode. The new EP8 motor is more efficient than its predecessor, so it’s likely that riders may get even more miles from every charge.
Why do you offer the Torque:ON with both one battery and with two batteries?
We equip the Torque:ON with a 504-Wh battery, which gives riders plenty of ride time and range while minimizing weight in the chassis and adding to the bike’s playful ride quality.
However, we also know some riders are going to want even more range from their Torque:ON. That’s why both the Torque:ON 8 and 9 are also available as a great value package with an additional battery and cover. A quick switch at the trailhead and you/re ready for more party laps.
Battery charge time
It takes about three-and-a-half hours for a full charge. We ship all Endurace:ON and Roadlite:ON bikes with a Fazua Charger.
How far can I ride the Spectral:ON on a single charge?
It’s impossible to give a definitive answer to this question since the range (on any e-bike) depends on several factors including the temperature outside, your weight, your cadence, how you use the power modes and how much climbing is involved.
Maximum battery range
It's impossible to give definitive answer to this question since range (on any e-bike) depends on several factors including the temperature outside, your weight, your cadence, how you use the power modes, how much you are climbing, and more. In our own testing, we've found the maximum possible range for our Fazua Evation-equipped bikes to be around 100 km in "Breeze" mode.
Which rear shocks can I run on the Neuron:ON?
Neuron:ON models come equipped with either FOX DPS or RockShox Deluxe Select shocks, but they can also be equipped with in-line, air-sprung shocks that have the correct eye-to-eye length and shock stroke.
Proper eye-to-eye length is 190 mm on X-Small and Small frames and 210 mm on Medium, Large, and X-Large frames.
Correct shock stroke is 47.5 mm on X-Small and Small frames, and 50 mm on Medium, Large, and X-Large frames.
Why Torque:ON? What makes it special?
We wanted to create a versatile e-MTB that was supremely capable on rough, high-speed stuff, but also agile and playful on jump lines. The Torque:ON does all that while opening up so much more riding to you, since you no longer have to rely on chairlifts or shuttle vans or a superhuman set of lungs to reach the best and highest trails.
Why does the Torque:ON wear 27.5 wheels instead and not, a “Mullet” wheel set-up, a la the Spectral:ON?
We like both 29ers and mullet bikes, but maximizing agility and playfulness was a key priority for this bike and the smaller 27.5 wheels help counteract the unavoidable weight increase associated with larger wheels and ensure the bike is easy to handle.
How far can I ride the Neuron:ON on a single charge?
It’s impossible to give a definitive answer to this question since the range (on any e-bike) depends on several factors including the temperature outside, your weight, your cadence, how you use the power modes and how much climbing is involved.
How much suspension travel does the Torque:ON have?
180mm of front suspension and 175mm of rear suspension.
What makes the suspension more linear on my Spectral:ON?
We fine-tuned the suspension kinematics (including a new rocker design) to give you more useable travel and greater tuning options.
What is the Torque:ON’s strong suit? Is it an electric “gravity/freeride” bike or some kind of enduro e-MTB?
The Torque:ON is actually a bit of both. When we developed the Torque:ON, we focused on creating a playful e-Freeride or e-park bike, but it didn’t take long for us to realize that the Torque:ON performs quite well in “enduro” type ride conditions.
Can you charge the battery with it either on or off the bike?
You can charge the battery whether it’s installed or removed from the bike. There is a standard Shimano charging port built into each frame for on-the-bike charging. If you prefer to charge the battery by itself (in cases when you can’t bring your bike within reach of an outlet), you can quickly and easily remove the battery. A Shimano adaptor is required to charge the battery when it’s been detached from the frame.
Does the Neuron:ON feature the new Shimano EP8 battery?
The brand new Neuron:ON features the Shimano EP8 battery.
However, you will find a few older model e-mountain bikes that features the Shimano Steps E8000.
What sets the Torque:ON apart from the Spectral:ON?
While the Spectral:ON aims to be the kind of do-it-all bike that suits most trail riders, the Torque:ON is made for the most aggressive, thrill-seeking riders. The Spectral:ON excels on everything from mellow trails to enduro-style tracks.
The Torque:ON, on the other hand, asks for even more aggressive trails. This bike doesn’t shy away from advanced enduro riding, but it truly comes into its own on big jump lines and the most technical downhill tracks.
What tyre width do I need for my Neuron:ON?
Tyre width is 2.6 inches (front and rear) on all Neuron:ON models.
Can I fit a coil shock to my Spectral:ON?
Does the Spectral:ON feature the new Shimano EP8 battery?
The brand new Spectral:ON features the Shimano EP8 battery.
However, you will find a few older model e-mountain bikes that features the Shimano Steps E8000.
How long does it take to charge a fully drained battery?
Depending on the model, we deliver our e-MTBs with a 2M or 4M charger. The 2M charges an empty battery to 80% capacity in 4 hours, for the full 100% it takes 7.5 hours. The 4M charger does it in half the time.
Just enter your key measurements, and we’ll tell you your frame size. The system uses data we’ve collected over many years of online sizing to give you results you can trust.
