profile

The lightweight Strive AL 8.0 is the perfect companion for extreme trail riding. With its adjustable travel Fox Talas fork, drive-neutral rear and balanced geometry, it masters steep ascents effortlessly. The “trail optimized geometry” provides a low centre of gravity and shortened chainstays allow agile handling, whilst on fast bumpy sections the bike remains composed due to its slack steering angle.

A robust Fox chassis gives excellent surface responsiveness and enables accurate steering so you can choose the perfect line on the toughest terrain. The Avid Elixir 7 Trail four-piston brakes provide maximum control on even the longest descents with powerful, easily controllable braking performance exactly where it’s needed. When pedalling back up to speed you can rely the e*thirteen TRS cranks with a 30mm oversize axle to give you absolute rigidity for minimum weight.

Our "raw club" colour option has a raw, untreated alloy base, which is given a coating of clear lacquer to protect the frame.

Highlights

HYDRO 14
14 reforming steps for ideal
stiffness-to-weight values

ANTI-SQUAT-KINEMATICS
for minimum performance loss

270° BOX
provides stiffness and
a low center of gravity

NEEDLE BEARING OF THE DAMPER
for sensitive response

270° Box
The forces which are created during riding are perfectly transferred towards the damper through a 270° deflection. A conical bearing mount and a sealed needle bearing in the damper eye ensure a more responsive 270° Box and a high axial rigidity. Due to the construction of the integrated 270° Box the centre of gravity is very low-lying, allowing an agile riding performance.

Anti-Squat-Kinematics
The single pivot rear triangle in combination with the large down tube guarantees a stiff drivetrain. The optimized pivot point offers the highest level of anti-squat performance and the lowest braking forces even when equipped with different crank sets.

Hydro 14
An ensemble of 14 reforming steps is necessary to produce the special hydroformed tubes. This extremely complex manufacturing process enables highest stiffness-to-weight values. In conjunction with the low-lying 270° Box the frame design sets aesthetic standards and on top of that offers space for mounting a bottle cage.

Needle bearing of the damper
In order to provide the chassis with maximum sensitivity, the damper is equipped with a full complement needle roller ball bearing, sealed against dirt. This runs on a double clamped full floating thru-axle in the 270° Box, which again increases the stiffness.

Bike Classification

This category includes all bikes from categories 1-3. In addition it includes use on very harsh, obstacle-scattered terrain with steep gradients and consequently higher speeds. Regular, moderate jumps pose no problem for experienced riders when using these bikes. Extended and regular use in bike parks and when tackling “North Shore” sections should be avoided. Due to increased stresses, these bikes should be checked for damage after every ride. Full suspension bikes with mid-level travel are typical in this category.

test reports

Excellent critique

Bikesport 5-6/13 (model 2013): Downhill oriented all-mountain bikes was what the magazine Bikesport called this category and where it tested seven powerful models with up to 160mm of travel. The Canyon Strive AL 9.0 SL also took part in the test and received glowing reviews. more  »
