"I ride to express my creativity" - Andrea Maranelli

Andrea Maranelli, 27 years old just turned, trentino di Rovereto, former Italian Champion (2014) and several times medallist in the national trial bike championships, is the new MTB and eMTB Canyon ambassador.
His natural propensity for sports activity tending "to the limit", of which the MTB trial is one of the best representations, combined with a particular attention to content thanks to his passion for photography and video production, have led the Canyon brand to see in him a perfect testimonial for his MTB and the ideal spokesman of the values transmitted by Canyon CLLCTV , a global community that welcomes mountain bikers and professional athletes with the same passions: finding the perfect path, closing new tricks and being faster and faster.
Valentina di Capua, Canyon Country Manager for Italy says: "Andrea was a natural choice when we started thinking about a local ambassador, his profile is completely in line with Canyon's DNA, athlete grit and great attention to style and performance, as well as a driving ability to be left speechless! We can't wait to make him better known to Canyon fans and give them the opportunity to interact in his "numbers" with a single recommendation: better not try to repeat his tricks!" Andrea will work on the MTB trial, taking the Canyon models to the limit: SPECTRAL , SPECTRAL:ON , TORQUE and TORQUE:ON

Who is Andrea Maranelli?

In simple terms a mountain bike athlete. In detail an extroverted person, very ambitious and determined, who always tries to give his best and who does not stop even to go ... in the bathroom (laughs, ed.).

How long and why do you ride? If there's one of course...

More than from how much I pedal I think it is more correct to say "from how far you do not get off the pedals" or "how much you are clinging to a handlebar" since, really, I do not use the bike as much to pedal as more to express my creativity. More specifically, I received my first bike at the age of 4, my first mtb at 8 and I really started practicing my sport (bike trial) at the age of 13.
So I have been pedaling for 13 years!

What's your favorite Canyon bike?

I think it is difficult to have a precise preference, let's say that the one that best suits what I am currently doing, namely street-trial on mtb, is the Spectral in a 27.5" version.
It is in fact a very handy and light bike that allows me to push all my tricks to the limit. Honestly, however, I also recently fell in love with Spectral:ON.
I make no secret of the fact that what you can do with this bike is crazy: it behaves like a muscular bike but gives you the chance to reach incredible locations in the blink of an eye (and effortlessly...).
I am already working to make a video with this bike, demonstrating its real potential.
Also, since I really like experimenting, I would also like to try to "push the limits" on bicycles that have been designed for other things, such as the gravel line.

What is your favorite "testing ground"?

My favorite place to train remains undoubtedly close to home, in the mountains of Trentino: they give me a sense of freedom that I can not perceive elsewhere. The multiplicity of technical lines, stones, trunks and breathtaking landscapes are difficult to find elsewhere.

A tip you'd like to give to your followers who see your stunts on social media

Wear your helmet first. It is right to try, possibly even fall and then get up and try again. But it is important to do it always safely, the helmet is undoubtedly the most important protection.
Having said that, I would like to reiterate that mine is a difficult and frustrating sport because it does not give satisfaction from the first training (as downhill could): you have to insist on learning the basics and having a good balance on the bike. Once you have acquired the "basic" skills, however, this sport gives more satisfaction than any other: the sensations you feel when you manage to "close a trick" are really priceless.

What are your plans for 2021?

The programs for 2021 are obviously uncertain as far as the whole world of show business is concerned. We cross our fingers and hope the events can start again great.
While waiting for this to happen, in the last period I focused on creating level video content for my YouTube channel.
The idea is to make at least three productions, among which there should also be "Always late 2"... but it's too early to talk about it and I'd rather not "spoiler" anything yet.
