Collaborating with suppliers to reduce emissions

Climate Action Training Programme for suppliers

Climate Action Training Programme for suppliers

At Canyon, we see collaboration within the cycling industry as a key lever for meaningful climate progress. When we first measured our corporate carbon footprint in 2021, it became evident that a significant share of emissions—especially Scope 3—originates in our global supply chain, including material sourcing and production.
In response, we initiated the Climate Action Training Programme, launched in late 2024. This free, online course is designed to support suppliers in understanding and reducing emissions. Developed together with bike industry partners from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the USA—and supported by Shift Cycling Culture, GIZ, the Initiative for Global Solidarity, Leadership & Sustainability, and Fischer, Knoblauch & Co.—the programme encourages shared responsibility and industry-wide engagement.
The training is available in English, Mandarin, and Vietnamese, and covers:
  • Different types of emissions (Scope 1, 2 & 3)
  • Measuring and reporting greenhouse gases
  • Setting targets, energy efficiency, and renewable energy
  • Case studies and practical approaches
Climate Action Training Programme for suppliers

"To truly make a difference, we must embrace our global responsibility. We can be competitors, but by joining forces, we can harness our enthusiasm and passion to drive positive change and make a greater impact together.”

Nicolas de Ros Wallace - CEO

The programme reflects a holistic and collaborative approach: it was co-developed over two years with input from various industry stakeholders and is offered free of charge to make participation as accessible as possible. By focusing on knowledge-sharing and practical tools, it aims to help companies set realistic climate goals and track their progress effectively. Since the launch of the training programme, 30 Canyon direct suppliers and business partners from China, Taiwan, and Vietnam have already taken part as of May 2025.
This is an important step in driving climate efforts within the cycling industry and it’s essential for us to work collaboratively with our suppliers in this journey. By offering the programme free of charge and in local languages, we’re creating a level playing field and common understanding along the value chain.
Yvonne Swoboda — Canyon Global Director of ESG
The Climate Action Training Programme is open to all companies in the cycling sector that want to collaborate with their suppliers to reduce emissions along the value chain.
