For the third season in a row, the Canyon Esports men's team has taken the win in the Zwift Racing League's Premier Division.

After 8 weeks of racing, the Canyon Esports team were able to reach their goal with a dominating performance in the final race. Whilst it had naturally been the intention of the team to defend their title, it is never a given with the competition in the race always improving. The women’s team had wished to challenge for the title, building from their second place in Season 2. However, in the end they would have to settle for 6th – equal on points with 5th placed team Twenty24.

The season could not have started off better with both squads finishing on top of the podium after the opening time trial. However, it was never going to be plain sailing and with a long season that spans 8 weeks – it is almost impossible to always be on the front foot. The men’s squad had carried their success into the following week winning Race 2, with Ollie Jones coming over the line in pole position. Unfortunately, the race was scratched due to technical issues meaning the team lost the chance on extending their lead.

Nevertheless, consistency as a team meant they were able to see off the competition – securing the league title by winning the final race of the season. On the women’s side, the youngest rider Cécile Lejeune continued her consistent form rarely finishing outside of the Top 10.

“The best defence is always offence. We’d had a difficult season leading into the final race but we've been in this position in the past and so this time wasn't any different. Ollie and I put the pressure on from the get-go while Antonie and Spencer secured our numerical advantage. It was the perfect scenario for us and I'm glad we were able to complete the ZRL HAT-TRICK!"

Cécile Lejeune, Team Rider

“From a team standpoint, we approached this season with high expectations, wanting to improve on our second place in Season 2. At some point or another, we all struggled with logistical issues, professional demands or health strains, which made reaching the top five all the more difficult. We still raced our hearts out and learned a lot from it. We'll highly appreciate our summer rest, but we're all hungry for 'revenge' next time round. On a personal level, I got a few Top 10 finishes, which validated some hard training I put in during the winter. It's satisfying on a personal level, but also gratifying to see a good performance bring points to the team.”

Team Manager Rhys Howell

"This season has been incredibly challenging for a plethora of reasons – both inside and outside of our control. However, every single person in this team has been an absolute professional and never lost focus. I know we did not get the result we wanted with the women's squad, but that is not from want of trying. I consider myself very lucky to be surrounded by such a great group of talented athletes. We're always evolving and I can't wait to see where we're at by the time you see us racing again as a team."

The team riders will now take a well-earned break over the summer period, ready to come back in the autumn. Of course, you'll undoubtedly still see many of the riders still racing - but with the pressure dial turned considerably down. Many of our riders will be racing on the road this summer and we wish them a healthy and successful couple of months.

Despite the racing being dialled down you can still expect to see more announcements from the team with regards to new kit, events, riders, and a few surprises. There is also the opportunity to join our racing community, The Coalition, where you can be the first to know the latest news from the team.
