On Fox DHX 5.0 suspensions the bottom out protection can be adjusted. Turn the large blue knob behind the fluid reservoir in a clockwise direction. This increases the bottom out resistance. Picture 1 The longer progression thus prevents the pistons from bottoming out.
Turn the knob in an anti-clockwise direction in order to reduce the intensity of the bottom out protection. You can turn the knob via by hand or a 4mm Allen key.
The greater the rider’s weight and the tougher the terrain you’re riding in, the higher the adjustment of the bottom out protection should be.
The adjustment of the bottom out protection also changes the air pressure in the Boost Valve chamber. You should therefore adjust the pressure of the Boost Valve after you have altered the bottom out protection. The air pressure of the Boost Valve in the Fox DHX 5.0 shock must be between 8.6 and 15.5 bar.
Spring elements must not bottom out. Always mind the maximum and minimum air pressure of the spring elements.
