Many Canyon bikes with black frames have no paint as such but are anodized. Picture 1 This means that the alloy is specially treated in a chemical bath with DC power. During the treatment process an oxide film is formed on the surface of the alloy which provides permanent protection to the frame. This hard, impact and scratch resistant coating offers the frame excellent protection from external elements and is between 100 and 150 grams lighter than painted frames.
Anodized frames require regular cleaning. Do not use any synthetic cleaning materials for this purpose and under no circumstances should high pressure cleaners be used.
We recommend the use of soapy water to clean anodized frames. Clean the frame thoroughly with a sponge and soapy water and then rinse everything off with clean water. When washing mountain bikes, you can also clean the dirt off the stanchions using a damp cloth.
