For every type of use there is a Canyon mountain bike to suit your needs. Here are a few tips to find out which bike is best for you:

Cross Country-Race

Canyon Bikes in this group include: Grand Canyon, Nerve AL, Nerve CF, Lux CF

Do you want to ride fast in cross-country terrain? If so, then this is the group of bikes which best fits in with your needs. These bikes are simply crying out for extreme leg power and will carry you with lightening speed along tracks and cross-country routes. The bikes are optimized to be as light as possible and have less suspension travel than their comrades from other MTB categories. The rider’s position on the bike is competitive and somewhat outstretched. Cross-country bikes offer superb transmission of power uphill, however on fast downhill sections considerable skill is required of the rider. Bikes in this category are often hardtails, meaning they have no suspension on the rear wheel. This makes the bike that much lighter, however the rear wheel is more likely to lose contact with the ground on extremely bumpy terrain and that results in a loss of power.

Marathon / Race

Canyon Bikes in this group include: Nerve, Grand Canyon, Lux CF

You want to ride competitively but do want to make any compromises with regard to comfort? Then a marathon bike will suit you best. The bikes in this category are relatively light, have full suspensions and offer a more relaxed position on the bike than the race machines in the cross-county race category. These bikes are also ideal for tours in moderately rough terrain. They are, however, not suitable for use in bike parks or extremely tough terrain. Sporty tour riders will appreciate bikes in this category since they offer an excellent mix between good climbing characteristics and acceptable downhill abilities.

Cross Country / All-Mountain-Bikes

Canyon Bikes in this group include: Nerve AL, Spectral

Do you want a well-balanced bike that you can whizz up hills and charge downhill on? Do you often ride trails off the beaten track. Do you like riding long and relaxing tours. If your answer to all these questions is yes, then an all-mountain bike is the best option for you. Bikes in this category have full suspension, offer a relaxed riding position and are still relatively light. This makes them the perfect companion for long and relaxing tours. The handling is docile. Downhill it is easy to keep the bike under control and on the climbs the relatively low weight helps you to defy gravity.

Enduro / Freeride

Canyon Bikes in this group include: Strive AL, Torque ES, Torque DHX

Do you prefer riding downhill to uphill? Do you want to have some reserves on your suspension just in case you need to jump a few meters? Then an enduro bike is exactly what you need. With these bikes the emphasis is on descents on tricky trails, drops and long downhills. In order to have optimum control, the rider’s position on the bike is upright and the handlebar is extra wide. Due to the bulky frame, components and the mega travel reserves the weight is somewhat greater than bikes in other categories. Riding uphill and log tours are possible, but they require a particularly high level of fitness.

Freeride

Canyon Bikes in this group include: Torque DHX

Do you want to ride wherever you want to? Would you like to have a bike that does everything, coupled with the maximum possible amount of travel? You don’t like riding uphill so much, but simply love to just go with the flow on long descents? Then we recommend you go for a freerider. These bikes will do virtually everything regardless of whether you are in the bike park, riding on blocked trails or way off the beaten track. The extremely upright riding position and the greater overall weight make long tours or rides uphill much more difficult. This all gives you optimum control over your bike on the downhill and when showing your style in the bike park.
