A world-class aluminium frame, innovative detailed solutions and outstanding stiffness values – the Grand Canyon AL SLX delivers everything that sets a perfect marathon and trail hardtail apart. The progressive geometry is optimally adapted to the requirements of the twenty-niner: the short wheelbase promises agile handling, while use of the short head tube allows you to tackle steep gradients. Thanks to the sporty seat position centrally in the bike, you can put enough weight on the pedal all the time even in steep passages. The wide support in the bottom bracket offers first-class stiffness for consistent assaults on the mountains, thanks to Shimano Press-Fit standard and the patented Maximus seat tube.

The X12 axle not only offers weight and stiffness advantages but also a 100%-precise seating of the rear wheel and disc brake rotor. Equipped with ratios specifically adapted to the large wheels (triple 40/30/22 or double 38/24), the aluminium projectile is excellently suited both for technically challenging climbs and for high-speed marathon sections. The XS frame size is teamed up with 27.5-inch wheels – the completely redesigned frame and the equipment thus provide the optimum overall package of geometry and ride for this size (except Grand Canyon AL SLX 9.9).

Organic tubes increase stability which in turn has a positive effect on frame stiffness. In addition, the hardness of the tubes is increased and gussets therefore become as good as supefluous.


Internal cable routing ensures the cables are 100% protected from the elements and ensures a clean look.


The patented Maximus Seat Tube has all the prerequisites to achieve an extremely stiff rear triangle thanks to the large contact surface between seat tube and bottom bracket shell.

X12 thru-axle

Stiffness is king. That doesn't just apply to the frame, but also to the axles. By using an X12 thru-axle at the front and on the rear triangle the stiffness increases and the ride performance is significantly improved. The AL 29ers benefit here in perticular.
