Road Disc by Canyon
Here's how we make the difference
If you are trying to decide between buying a disc brake or rim brake bike, it’s important to know that disc brakes provide road bikes with the tools they need to be potentially safer in situations like rainy descents or over rough, muddy roads. The Ultimate CF SLX Disc 9.0 (frame weight 820 g) offers a super-high quality spec to get your disc brake riding and racing off with a flying start. Complete with the top Dura Ace spec and DT Swiss wheels, the bike still boasts a Pro Tour race-ready low weight while still having serious acceleration when you really stamp on the pedals. For the fork, Canyon turn to the One One Four SLX Disc full carbon fork. Its 1 ¼ inch fork shaft, 12mm through axle, and flat mount standard will provide the durability to withstand the braking forces while also allowing for a modicum of vertical compliance to help smooth out any rough rides. Turning to Dura Ace for the components provides the silent, precise shifting that will keep the perfect gear just a fingertip away; then once you are up and over that hill, you can just rail the descent since you’ll have the Dura Ace disc brakes that come with the Shimano ICE technology to keep frictional heat at a minimum. The DT Swiss PRC 1400 Dicut wheels, weighing just 1443 g, are wrapped in 25mm Continental Grand Prix 4000s II tires, and will certainly contribute how responsive the acceleration feels but also how smooth the ride is. Whether on Swiss-smooth roads or over hard-pack dirt paths along a lake front, this will be a bike that will feel solid, secure, lightweight and amazingly responsive. The Ultimate CF SLX Disc 9.0 is the best bike you can buy for all your road racing adventures.

BIKE CLASSIFICATION: Bikes of this category are designed for riding on hard-surface roads where the wheels remain in permanent contact to the ground. These are in general road-racing bicycles with racing handlebars or straight handlebars, triathlon or time trial bicycles. The permissible maximum overall weight comprising rider, luggage and bicycle should not exceed 120 kg. Under certain circumstances, this permissible maximum weight can be further limited by the component manufacturers’ recommendations for use. Proven cyclocross bikes with racing handlebars and cantilever or disc brakes are a special case in this category. In addition, these bikes are also suitable for gravel paths and off-road trails where a short loss of tire contact with the ground due to small stairs or steps at a height of 15 to 20 cm can occur.
