To your left and to your right there are mountains as far as the eye can see. You weave your way with your companion along the trail through the rocks and stones which are lined up like pearls on a string. You breathe in deeply, enjoy the silence and keep on pedalling because you have the next mountain top firmly in your sights. The joy and the pain are so close together. Alpine cross is an adventure! Are you ready for that adventure? The Torque EX Alpinist is and you can be sure of that because it has everything you need for a demanding tour in the mountains. The updated geometry for 2013 with its lower bottom bracket delivers greatly improved performance in tight corners or on the jumps.
The reliable ant-squat-kinematic and Fox DHX Air 5.0 shock from the Factory Line with ProPedal platform on/off function guarantee a sensitive response and the bike scores high as a true lightweight above all on the climbs. For the climb up to the top of the mountain you can lower the Fox 36 TALAS RC2 Factory fork with FIT down to 140mm. When you reach the summit, a simple turn of a lever arms you with 180mm for the brutal trails in the high mountains. Thanks to the RockShox Reverb Stealth the mere pressing of a button puts you into the optimum saddle position. The Torque EX Alpinist will make every ride an unforgettable adventure!
"I start the climb with the ski lift, twiddle my way a further 300 hundred metres of elevation to the summit and then really shred the single trails."Tibor, canyon Hero

On the bottom bracket you can mount adapter plates for the ISCG-05, as well as for a Shimano E-Type front derailleur. This allows you to ride the Torque either with chain guide, Hammerschmidt crank set or with a 2 to 3-speed chain ring. The adapter plates are available separately as accessories.
Through a special arrangement of the four bearing points of the rear triangle, the 180 mm of rear travel will remain absolutely bob free even during pedalling. At the same time pedal kickback is reduced to a minimum.
By using a scale on the lever and a drag indicator on the bearing, you can easily read the used travel. Thus, tuning the suspension is a breeze.
Postmount standard and Syntace X-12-Thru Axle
180 mm and 185 mm brake discs can be directly attached to the frame without an adapter. This Direct- (Post) Mount attachment saves weight, increases the stiffness of the brake and facilitates tuning. Next to advantages concerning weight and stiffness the Syntace X-12 Axle provides a 100% accurate positioning of the rear wheel and brake disc. The easy handling makes a wheel change as fast and smooth as never before.
