A gravity bike that's tailor-made for wide gaps and high drops whether you're riding in the bike park or on the downhill. Such a bike needs a suspension that helps you remain in complete control in every situation. Select the set-up that best meets your needs and ride with either the smooth-running 64° or the agile 65° steering angle, together with a double or single crown. All this is complemented by the adjustable travel options of either 203 or 185mm. It now just remains for you to optimize the Torque FRX for the next challenge. Great diversity and perfect geometry are just two of the qualities which characterize our 2012 gravity weapon for downhill racing and bike park use.
The FRX impresses with its agility. When you're on the course, you must merely think about going left and the bike is already turning for you. You just can't beat this bike on manoeuvrability and smooth running. In addition, the suspension allows the bike to stick to the ground like glue and this guarantees a safe, relaxing and fun ride, because only a bike that stays firmly on the ground can be steered, braked or accelerated. The bike is not only easy to accelerate because of the very good kinematics, but also the low weight contributes to the feeling that you are accelerating on an enduro bike and not a downhill meteor. Here it's all about seeing, feeling, downhill and mega fun."
– Stefan Herrmann, former German downhill champion
Onepointfive – that means greater stiffness and stability in the head tube. The diameter of the head tube and the steerer tube is enlarged making it able to cope with greater loads. For Canyon it is a matter of course to use this standard for extreme free riders because it is here that the bike is subjected to the greatest loads. Whether in the bike park, or out in the open country: Extreme free riders want to have total trust in their material. The One Point Five head tube is just one more reason to trust the Torque FRX.
It's above all long-stroke bikes which require just that little bit more in the way of stiffness especially on the rear wheel. This is achieved by the correct choice of rims and perfectly true wheels. This is also the reason why all wheels are exclusively trued by Canyon in Koblenz. However, the best spokes and the stiffest rim are useless if the hub is the weakest point of the wheel. The trend towards greater stiffness has led to the use of more thru-axles with suspension forks in the last few years. We have fitted a MAXLE thru axle system on the Torque FRX frame. The advantage: increased stiffness and great for everyday use. Because the MAXLE system is also as easy to use as a quick release system and offers increased stiffness and safety.
The Torque FRX is designed for precisely one purpose: Extreme-freeride. For this you need a frame that is up to the loads in the toughest of bikeparks. Because bikepark visits are a particularly tough challenge for both man and machine. The Torque FRX stands up to the most difficult routes. The reinforcements at the head tube and the solid rear shock socket don’t shy away from even the highest drops. This is because the Torque FRX shines with its extremely robust square profiles and useful reinforcements in strongly stressed spots.
The 200 mm of travel promises mega fun in blocked terrain. The frame and components are built to achieve maximum stability and riding fun. The bikes are now even fitted with the new and improved Fox DHX RC4 shock with an installation length of 222 mm and a lift of 70 mm. The greater lift allows a low ratio of travel thereby guaranteeing as responsive a ride as possible.
